I’m going to answer a few simple questions this morning about my personal Bible and I hope you’ll do the same. I have a feeling we’ll learn a lot about one another just by comparing Bibles. 🙂
What translation do you study from the most?
My aunt bought me a NIV Study Bible after I was saved, so it’s my go-to translation. I’ve recently began studying multiple translations side by side. My four favorites to parallel are the NKJV, Holman, NIV, and Amplified.
What is your all time favorite Bible verse?
Proverbs 4:14, 15, 27 “Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way…Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”
Close your Bible and look at the pages. You’re likely to see a dirty ring somewhere along the edge of the paper. What book does the dirt ring circle? FYI, that’s your most read book in that Bible. 😉
I have a dirt ring around Matthew since we’ve studied it for so long in church and another ring around the Psalms and Proverbs.
The dirt ring is pretty telling, but just in case you’ve read more on your Kindle lately, what are your favorite books of the Bible?
Proverbs tops the list for me, but I also really love to study Jeremiah, Romans, and James.
Pen, Pencil, or Highlighter? Do you mark up your Bible? If so, what do you use, and what methods do you have for marking in your Bible?
I’m a simple gal. I only use a pink highlighter to mark my favorite verses. I don’t take any notes in my Bible, but I do keep a study journal.

I love the original King James version of the Bible. That’s what I grew up reading and I think the language is beautiful.
My all-time favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23:2 “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.” I have a mini painting done by my cousin with that verse and a stream that reminds me to slow down and enjoy the good things in life. Of course, now that my old horse has passed away, I can see her in my mind, grazing in those green pastures and drinking from that still water.
My favorite books of the Bible are the Psalms and Job. I love the language of the Psalms and their reassurances that God loves us. The natural images in Job are beautiful, and it reminds me that even when bad things happen, God is still moving in our lives.

I love Psalm 23. 🙂 I don’t think I used verse 2, but I used portions of that Psalm throughout In the Shadow of Thy Wings.
Job is a wonderful book, and that’s such an important lesson.

My favorite translation is NKJV. But I love to study in HCSB and NAS.
My favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”
I do take notes with pen in my bible. Lots of Notes in Matthew, Romans, and Acts.

I like the NKJV or NASB. I love to take notes in my bible with pencil or pen when one of the grandson have the pencil. I love Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my thoughts, And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

I didn’t know that! I love that verse too! It’s highlighted pretty pink in my Bible. And I couldn’t imagine which of those grandkids would take your pencil. Lol

I have the origional King James version of the Bible and I love it. I love the way that it is written and the language is absoutely beautiful. My favorite verse is hard because there are so many but to pick one I guess would be…”Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” First John 3:1 (KJV). The ‘dirt ring’ can be found on both Genesis and John. I have been studying the book of John for a while now and I just started really looking at the book of Genesis to study our beginnings. My favorite books though (read online and such) also include Mathew, Psalms, Proverbs, and 1 & 2 Timothy. I use a highliter and a pen to underline and highlight certain things that ‘jump’ out at me as I am doing my Bible reading. I sometimes take notes in the margins but usually I use my refelections journal for that.

I grew up with the KJV of the Bible and memorized several verses while atrending Christian School. Now I use a NKJV of the Bible. I have a parellel version ( NIV, NASB, AMP., and KJV) I like to use to compare passages. My all time favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5,6. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thine own understanding In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths”. The dirt ring around my Bible is located around the Book of John, Psalms and Proverbs. I use to use a highlighter in my Bible but now I use a pen. After attending a Ladies Bible Study recently I started using her method of drawing a heart around verses referring to God’s love. I sometimes write the preacher’s name and the date by the passage of scripture which is the focus of the sermon.

though.
