What I Loved: The Drawing Lesson is an easy read. The conversation throughout the graphic novel flowed smoothly with questions and answers that it felt like I was sitting with the teacher. There is more reading involved than a simple, look and draw book. But it was by no means weighty either. I read it in one day from cover to cover and picked up so much.
I have no talent for drawing and don’t intend to try. I picked up The Drawing Lesson for my boys who love to draw. My 12-year-old found it more appealing than my 8-year-old. I found the lessons on shading helpful for taking my adult coloring books to the next level. 😉
Aside from the drawing lesson, Mark weaved a simple short story about an eager boy and the artist he befriends.
The Drawing Lesson focused more on technique than showing you how to draw selected objects. Each section encourages you to stop and practice what you’ve learned on objects in your own home.

Rating and Recommendation: I highly recommend The Drawing Lesson to anyone who wants to take their craft to the next level. I’m grateful to have added it to our collection at home. I’m giving it 5 stars.
