It’s time for round 2 of the Cover Wars!! This week, I’m pairing up two covers from the SAME author to see which one is our favorite. Place your vote in the comments below!
Alicia G. Ruggieri: Such heartfelt beauty!! Can you pick your favorite?
Karen Witemeyer:Β I love the playfulness on both covers. But which is your favorite?
Julie Klassen: Two showstoppers from the same great author. Do you have a favorite?
Jody Hedlund: Talk about breathtakingly beautiful! Whoever designs her covers needs a raise! But which is your favorite?
Denise Hunter: Which of these romantically sweet covers if your favorite?
I can’t wait to hear which ones you will proclaim the winners. I know I didn’t make it easy on you. π But that’s the point of this game after all. Lol
Here were my winners:
Ruggieri: While I think both are stunning, I’m quite smitten with the emotional shot of Ben at the piano. So I’ll be choosing A Love to Come Home to.
Witemeyer: YIKES! This is hard. I really love them both. But I think I love A Worthy Pursuit just a tad more. Maybe it’s her lovely smile that wins me over.
Hedlund: Again, it’s another toss-up. But…I’ll have to say, Newton and Polly. I love all the blue and grays in the cover.
Klassen: Girl in the Gatehouse is my fave. I love her dress and the flowing purple ribbon adds a nice touch. Plus the gatehouse looks like a mini castle!
Hunter: The Goodbye Bride. While both are lovely, I’m head over heals in love with the emotion and the splash of pink on this cover.
I’ll be collecting votes until people stop commenting. Then I’ll update the post to announce the winners. If you’ve missed the first Cover Wars or missed seeing who won, you can check it out here.
UPDATE: Feel free to share your opinion in the comments below. But for the sake of announcing a winner, I’m going to share the tallies.Β
Ruggieri: The Fragrance of Geraniums wins! Geraniums 6 – A Love to Come Home to 4
Witemeyer: A Short-Straw Bride takes it home. Short-Straw 7 – A Worthy Pursuit 3
Hedlund: Newton and Polly wins! Newton 8 – Luther and KatharinaΒ 2
Klassen: Klassen leaves the battle with a tie. 5 votes each for Girl in the Gatehouse and The Tutor’s Daughter
Hunter: Married til Monday takes it home. Monday 7 – The Goodbye Bride 3
*Late Voters: I don’t intend to adjust the winners for additional votes, but I’ll gladly chat with you about your favorites if you choose to comment.Β
My picks – The Fragrance of Geraniums (although that one is a hard one), Short-Straw Bride (love the “can’t wait to see” curiosity on her face), The Girl in the Gatehouse (for the same reason—facial expression), Newton and Polly (it’s the ship in the storm), The Goodbye Bride (I think because the image of the happy couple is contrary to the title—makes me curious).

Wonderful choices and wonderful points! And I love the “can’t wait to see” expression on Short-Straw Bride too. That one was hard for me.

You’re welcome! Ben’s cover has been a favorite of mine since I first laid eyes on it. But I have to ask, how did YOU pick between your own covers? What swayed you?
And thanks for voting! π

Honestly, Ben is such a near-and-dear-to-my-heart character to me, and then also, I love the pensive expression on his face – especially since I know what he is thinking in that scene. π

I agree! I think those characters that endear themselves to you the most, are the ones that you watch struggle. You feel their pain — partly because you purposely put it there! π
Frank is one that is so especially dear to me. I’ve put the weight on him over the years, but he bears it well.

Fun game! But HARD!! Especially with The Time of Grace books because they’re both so stunning and meaningful! But I suppose I must choose one, so my votes are:
The Fragrance of Geraniums
Short-Straw Bride
The Tutor’s Daughter
Newton and Polly
Married till Monday

My choices are 1) The Fragrance of Geraniums – 2) Short-Straw Bride – 3) The Girl in the Gatehouse – 4) Newton and Polly – 5) The Goodbye Bride.

That’s funny. I almost laid them out where all of my choices were the first cover. I had to do some moving around. π
And you have chosen well. π Thanks for voting!

A Love to Come Home To—the man at the piano captured it for me.
Worthy Pursuit–the smile and excitement is radiant.
The Tutor’s Daughter–the misty sea and castle on the cliff.
Newton and Polly–no doubt there with the blending of colors and words.
Married till Monday–the tender moment.

Ahhhh The man at the piano. The author said she wrote a specific scene just to match this cover and it turned out to be one the most memorable scenes.
And I LOVE that smile on her face on Worthy Pursuit.
Thanks so much for voting!

Choice 1: The Fragrance of Geraniums. (The other has the image I prefer but the red creates a more pleasing picture–makes it pop.)
Choice 2: A Worthy Pursuit. You get a sense of the characters’ personality The other one is nice but just there.
Choice 3: The Tutor’s Daughter: The title gets lost on Gatehouse
Choice 4: Newton and Polly. I often don’t like floating heads, but this is done brilliantly!
Choice 5: Married Til Monday. Frankly, I don’t love either of them, but at least Monday doesn’t have the photo cut off at the neck–photography no no!
Fun battle. Can’t wait for the verdict.

Lol You know, I didn’t think anything about the floating head in Newton and Polly but I’m not sure I’ll look at that cover the same now.
Thanks for voting! You have great taste. π

Now THIS is fun. π
With Alicia R’s I choose “A Love to Come Home To.” It’s got a piano. π
Karen W’s I choose “Short-Straw Bride.” It tells a whole story right there and begs questions. π
Julie K’s I choose “The Tutor’s Daughter.” I think it’s the blues and nature.
Jody H’s I choose “Newton and Polly.” Neither of these I actually just LOVE; not sure why…
Denise H’s I choose “Married Til Monday.”
