New Blog Series and Giveaway!!

About the Series: Starting April 6-15 I will be posting a new blog series titled, Experiencing History: Reliving the End of the Civil War, Moment by Moment. The blog posts will appear at different times throughout the day as we reenact real moments, in real timing. Some days have more than one post scheduled. I’ve made keeping up with the posts easy by creating a hashtag for the event. Not only can you check for updates here on the blog site, but you can also search Twitter and Facebook for #ExperHist Why should you follow this blog series? I have two great reasons: It’s an amazing moment in our country’s history, AND I’m hosting a giveaway. But before I give you more details on the giveaway, let’s talk history.

History: Many of my readers are friends and family living here in Tennessee. And if you happen to be one of my many friends who care little for history, you may be asking yourself: Why do we care? They surrendered in Virginia, and it has little to do with us. WRONG!! Did you know that men from Middle Tennessee were there that day? It’s true! The 17th Regiment of Tennessee Infantry, who I write about in the Ancient Words Series, is made up of men from Bedford and surrounding counties. Out of the 1,000 men that served, 70 of them surrendered under Lee on April 9th.
